L07. Write a short introduction with Claude

You will write a short About Me paragraph and save intro-claude.txt. Allow about 45 minutes. Prepare about-me.txt and email access; registration may also require your phone. Use ordinary Claude chat. The main exercise does not need paid Claude Code access.

In class

The teacher supplies Claude with a short note and requests an introduction. Learners compare every claim with the note, remove invented achievements and choose clear wording for a personal page together.

Start with your account

Claude names Anthropic’s model family and its conversational application. Claude Code can read and change project files and run checks.

• Open claude.ai. Choose Continue with Google for your prepared account or Continue with email for email sign-in. Record the method in your access note. [F212]
• For email sign-in, open the emailed link on the same computer. If you opened the email on another device, enter its code in the window where you began signing in. [F212]
• When creating an account, verify your own phone number if requested during registration. Official guidance provides for SMS verification, requiring a supported number and location. [F213]
• Start a new conversation. The available free chat is sufficient for our text exercise. Claude Code in the desktop application requires an eligible paid plan. [F214][F215]

Provide material to write from

Olena wants a natural introduction from six factual lines. Open about-me.txt, copy its contents and paste them after this prompt:

Write a first-person About Me paragraph for a personal
website, up to 50 words. Use only the facts provided.
Do not add a profession, achievements or contact details.
Do not present planned projects as already completed.

Use the send button once the message contains both the task and the copied lines. The filename about-me.txt alone does not supply its contents.

Compare the answer with the note. “I plan” or “I’m learning” fits; “I have launched my application” is unsupported. If the paragraph sounds too grand, send:

Rewrite more simply, using up to 30 words. Keep my name,
interests and intention to learn. Remove promotional
adjectives.

Save Documents\AI-practice\intro-claude.txt in Notepad. Close it, reopen it from its folder and check the text.

If Claude Code is available

Reading without changes is enough for a first visit. Install Claude Desktop through the official Desktop quickstart. Open the Code tab, choose Local to work with files on this computer, select Open folder…, and choose AI-practice. [F215]

Enter: “Read about-me.txt and name the three planned projects. Do not change files.” Press Enter to send it. Expect the website, My Day and the video. The agent reads a file from the attached folder; earlier, you pasted its text.

> [FIX] Claude says it cannot see the file. In chat, paste its contents. In Code, check the open folder: it should contain about-me.txt. Avoid asking it to search your whole computer when you already know the location.

Home practice

• Copy your checked introduction into AI-practice\intro-home.txt. In a chat you already have, request a version for a new acquaintance: up to 30 words, without promotional adjectives. Also paste the contents of about-me.txt to keep the facts unchanged.
• Save your chosen version in the homework copy. Compare it with the note: the name and interests should match, and planned projects must not become completed ones. Keep intro-claude.txt unchanged for later comparison.
