L22. Upload to YouTube and check the link

Allow 20 minutes, plus upload and processing time, to obtain a link to your own Unlisted video. You need the channel from Lesson 19 and the checked desk-40s.mp4. Unlisted means anyone with the link can watch and pass it on. It is unsuitable for confidential material. [P204]

In class

The teacher demonstrates the route from an MP4 to Unlisted visibility. Together, open a practice link as viewers and compare the title, sound and final shot with the local file.

Prepare the title and description

On the computer, open content\channel.txt in Notepad, add the following lines and save:

Title: Three steps to a clear desk
Description: I remove extras, keep the essentials,
and group small items together.
A practice video recorded on a phone.

Paste the title and description into ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini and ask: “Check for exaggeration; retain the concrete actions.” Accept changes only when they match your footage.

Work through the Studio upload

• Open studio.youtube.com in your browser. Check the channel, then select Create → Upload videos. Choose Documents\AI-practice\content\desk-40s.mp4. [P203]
• On Details, insert your title and description. For this exercise, use an available automatically selected frame rather than preparing a separate thumbnail.
• Under Audience, answer whether the video was made for children. Our example addresses adults, so it fits No, it’s not made for kids. “Safe to watch” and “specifically made for children” mean different things. For a different project, assess its actual intended audience. [P203]
• Under AI use, if shown, answer according to the footage. AI help with a script does not by itself require a realistic synthetic-content label. A generated scene or a substitution of someone’s voice may require a different answer. Our project uses a recording of our own desk and our own voice. [P231]
• Use Next to review available video elements and Checks. Do not add music simply to fill a field. If the system identifies a problem, open its explanation before completing the upload.
• Under Visibility, select Unlisted, check your selection, and choose Save. Copy the resulting link into channel.txt. [P203][P204]

Watch as a viewer

On the computer, press Ctrl+Shift+N in Chrome or Edge to open an Incognito or InPrivate window. Open your saved link there and watch the whole video, checking speech, readable labels and the final shot. If the picture is initially blurry, wait for the higher-quality version to finish processing.

A short vertical upload may appear as a Short, YouTube’s short-video category. That is expected and does not override the selected visibility. Check Studio → Content: the video should display Unlisted. [P230][P204]

> [FIX] If another viewer sees “private video”, open Studio → Content → Visibility, select Unlisted, and save. If you accidentally selected Public, change it there too. Changing visibility does not remove copies already made by others. [P204]

Home practice

• Open the local desk-40s.mp4 beside its YouTube version. Choose a moment containing a title and your voice.
• In content\upload-review.txt, record whether the words, audio and picture match. If something differs, identify the affected version instead of uploading another copy at random.
• Draft an alternative title of at most eight words that accurately describes the video. Save it as a draft; this exercise requires no new publication.

Self-test

• Can a friend forward an Unlisted link?
• Does the Short label mean the upload became public?
• Checks reports no problems, but your voice is inaudible. Is the exercise complete?
