32 Gemini and Antigravity: connections, skills and commands

LESSON OBJECTIVE Choose a Google extension, make a limited website change and check it with the keyboard.
STUDENT DELIVERABLE review.txt with actual website checks; gemini-caption.txt or paper comparing the described actions.
VERIFICATION CRITERION review.txt with actual website checks; gemini-caption.txt or paper comparing the described actions.

Allow about 60–90 minutes to choose a useful extension and check a copy of your personal website in Antigravity App. The exercise produces a local page with a link to skip to the main content, plus review.txt recording your actual checks. You need Windows, Antigravity from Lesson 08 and Documents\AI-practice\personal-site. Work on a local copy; publishing the site is unnecessary.

In class

The teacher compares a data connection, saved instructions and a file-editing tool. Together, add a skip link to a website copy and test it with Tab and Enter.

Start with the missing capability

Connect Drive to find a script stored there. Save instructions to shorten captions consistently. Open the website folder in Antigravity to edit its HTML. These are different capabilities, even when you use the same Google Account.

What are we adding?
01Data

A Connected App finds a permitted document.

02Instructions

A Gem or skill repeats an approach.

03Tools

MCP supplies specific actions to an agent.

04Environment

An editor extension works beside the code.

Choose according to the required action.

Five useful ways to extend your work

Google Workspace in Gemini: find your document

This is a Connected App, an attached service. In Gemini on your computer, open Customize → Connectors; choose More first if Customize is hidden. Find Google Workspace and inspect its supported actions. Use the same Google Account as Drive. You need Keep Activity, the activity-saving setting, and the required smart features enabled. Work or school accounts also depend on administrator permission. Read those settings before changing them. If the service is not connected yet, choose Add and complete the on-screen access confirmation. [P301][P302]

If you have already saved the Lesson 20 script in Google Docs, type @ and select Drive from the suggestions. Ask: “Find my document titled ‘Desk organisation’. List all its shots and their durations. Show the source.” Use your document’s actual title. Expect five shots and a source link to check. If the document is not in Drive, paste the text from desk-script.txt into an ordinary Gemini chat. Send: “List all shots and their durations from the text above.” Compare the five shots with the file; this route does not need a Drive link. This route neither creates folders nor analyses video as a document. Disconnect it through Connected Apps when needed. [P301]

A Gem or skill: repeat an editing approach

A Gem saves instructions for Gemini’s answers. In the browser, open Gems → New Gem, enter a name and instructions, then choose Save. Try the name “Short captions” and instructions: “Preserve the demonstrated actions. Shorten to at most two sentences. Do not add promises of benefits or success.” Open the saved Gem and send your Lesson 25 caption. Expect shorter wording describing the same actions. [P303]

Google has announced that personal-account Gems will transition to skills starting in November 2026. Skills are already available for adults with a personal account and Keep Activity through Customize → Skills → Create → Create manually. Enter short-captions, a description and the same instructions, then choose Create. To use the skill, type / and select it from the menu. If your interface shows the updated @ shortcut, use that instead. The skill does not grant Windows folder access. [P304][P305]

Modern Web Guidance: instructions for a web project

This collection gives an agent Google’s instructions for checking and improving a website. In Antigravity App, it appears under Build with Google Plugins. Antigravity access is enough; the collection needs no separate registration or API key. Ask: “Apply Modern Web Guidance and suggest one testable improvement to keyboard navigation.” Check that the reply names a specific change and a way to test it. [P306][P307]

Chrome DevTools: inspect the page in a browser

Chrome DevTools MCP supplies tools for interacting with Chrome. MCP is a way to connect tools, not another model. Antigravity App’s /browser command starts its browser assistant and this server automatically, so this route needs no separate manual setup. An administrator can disable browser access. [P308][P318]

Ask: “/browser Open my published website at the following address. Check whether the Projects link works and show a screenshot of the result.” Add the real URL from Lesson 14. Expect an observed navigation result and an image, rather than a summary of HTML. The server’s documentation covers manual setup for other programs. [P309]

Google Antigravity for VS Code: work beside your code

If you already use the VS Code editor, this extension adds an Antigravity panel to it. You need a supported editor version and a Google Account with Antigravity access, including its free tier. Press Ctrl+Shift+X in VS Code, find Google Antigravity published by Google, choose Install, open its icon and sign in. [P310]

With personal-site and styles.css open, ask the agent panel: “Explain the .intro rule in two sentences; do not change files.” Expect the actual maximum width (max-width) and font size (font-size) from the open file. Compare the reported values with the rule: earlier exercises may have changed them. Use Antigravity App for the exercise below.

Exercise: a small change you can check with the keyboard

A skip link reaches the main content without going through the menu. Tab moves focus, the current selection, between available controls; Enter activates the selected link. Our HTML places its main content in the <main> element.

  1. In File Explorer, copy personal-site inside Documents\AI-practice. Name the copy personal-site-google. If that name already exists, use personal-site-google-2 and work in that folder. Double-click its index.html to confirm the copy works.
  2. In Antigravity App, open Settings → Customizations → Build with Google Plugins. Enable Modern Web Guidance. Check the collection’s name; this exercise needs no other integrations. [P306]
  3. Choose New Project → Add Folder, select the copied folder and choose Create. Enter: “Read index.html and styles.css. Name the heading and three sections. Do not change anything yet.” Press Enter. If the app offers a mode choice, select Local to work in this folder. The answer should describe your Olena website. [P311]
  4. Send the following task. Wait for completion or a specific request for an action you need to take.
  1. Inspect the displayed changes. Expect a link before the menu, a matching id on <main> and CSS for visible focus. An example matching pair is href="#main-content" and id="main-content". If <main> already had another id, the link must use it.
  2. Reload the copied page in your browser. Press Tab until “Skip to main content” appears, then Enter. The address should acquire the matching #id, and navigation should lead to the main content. Press Tab again: the selection should move to the next available control in the main content. Narrow the window and check that the entire link remains readable.
Three pieces of evidence
01Collection enabled

Modern Web Guidance is enabled in settings.

02File edited

The link and target have matching identifiers.

03Action verified

Tab reveals the link; Enter reaches the content.

Check each stage separately.
  1. In Notepad, create review.txt inside the copied folder. Record the actual result using this format. If a check fails, describe what you saw in a new message to the agent.
text
Changed: index.html, styles.css.
Checked: link appears after Tab; Enter reaches main.
Preserved: introduction, three projects, contact section.
Remaining: check on a real phone.
  1. If needed, disable the collection under Build with Google Plugins. Marketplace additions can also be managed through the card menu in Customizations → Installed. Disabling an extension does not undo an HTML edit already saved. [P306][P312]

Six commands in the right environment

Here, App means the message box in Antigravity App on Windows. Type /, choose a command, add your task and press Enter. These lines do not belong in PowerShell or an ordinary Gemini chat. [P313]

WhereWhat to enterWhat to inspect
App/plan Add a skip link. Begin with a plan only.A plan naming files and checks. [P315]
App/grill-me Clarify requirements for three project cards.Answer each question in turn, then choose Submit. [P316]
App/goal Check the skip link and fix only its defects.Changes and evidence of completion. [P314]
App/browser Check the menu at this address; submit nothing.Add the URL; inspect observed results. [P318]
App/plugin Show installed plugins; change nothing. An agent reply listing the installed plugins. [P313]
App/learn Save this project rule: three cards and relative paths.A proposed rule for approval first. [P317]

Use /goal for a task with a clear completion condition. To stop, send: “Stop and cancel the current goal; list the files already changed.” A new goal cancels the previous one in that conversation. Do not transfer Codex’s /goal pause or /goal resume here: we used Antigravity’s documented cancellation method. Tool permissions remain separate. [P314]

Home practice

  1. Use this text: “I organised the shelf, put three books together and left room for another.” Ask the “Short captions” Gem for at most two sentences. If unavailable, paste its instructions from this lesson into an ordinary Gemini chat with the text.
  2. Save the original, reply and your check in content\gemini-caption.txt, or on paper.
  3. Underline the preserved actions; all three must remain. The answer must add no purchases or unsupported benefits.

Self-test

  1. Does creating a Gem open the Windows personal-site folder?
  2. The agent says “done”, but the link does not appear after Tab. Can you record a successful check?
  3. How do you stop an active Antigravity goal?

Useful terms

  • Connected App: an attached service supplying permitted data or actions to Gemini.
  • Skill: reusable instructions for a particular job.
  • MCP server: a provider of tools through a shared protocol.
  • Editor extension: an addition that runs inside a code editor.
Self-Test Answer Key (Lesson 32) Answer the three questions above first, then reveal the answer key to check your understanding.
  1. No. Saved instructions do not grant access to local files.
  2. No. Record the failure, tell the agent what happened and repeat the check after correction.
  3. Send a request to stop or cancel it, then inspect files already changed.
